Why Nebraska Buildings Need Engineered Envelope Solutions
Two Hard Seasons Every Year
Nebraska buildings face both extremes. Winters bring subzero cold, snow and dozens of freeze-thaw cycles that split mortar, stone and sealants, while road salt corrodes concrete and metal at street level and in parking garages. Summers bring humid heat and severe storms with hail and strong wind that crack coatings and break window seals.
A joint that survives one season often fails in the next, so repairs here have to be rated for both.
Historic Brick And A Short Building Season
Omaha’s Old Market and older downtowns across the state were built from brick laid in soft lime mortar. Hard cement repairs trap water that freezes and spalls the brick, so historic masonry needs lime mortar and breathable treatments.
Mortar, sealants and coatings need warm weather to cure, so most exterior work runs from about April through October. Presto plans over the winter and coordinates with local commissions and the Nebraska State Historic Preservation Office on listed buildings.
Building Restoration In Nebraska
Does Presto Restoration Work Throughout Nebraska?
Yes. Omaha has its own service pages, and we take commercial projects across the rest of the state, including Lincoln. Crews are assembled around the project rather than dispatched from one fixed location.
What Kinds Of Buildings Does Presto Work On In Nebraska?
Office towers, historic warehouses, state and university buildings, hospitals and medical campuses, hotels, parking garages and civic landmarks. Our work is above grade, meaning the building envelope from the plaza deck up.
How Do Nebraska Winters Damage Commercial Buildings?
Water that gets into cracks and mortar joints freezes, expands and pushes them wider, while road salt corrodes concrete and steel. Over a few winters, small openings become real leaks and spalling.
Can Hail Damage Cause Leaks Later?
Yes. Hail often cracks coatings and breaks seals without an obvious hole, and the leak shows up in a later storm or during the spring thaw.
When Is The Best Time Of Year To Schedule Exterior Restoration In Nebraska?
Most exterior work runs from about April through October, when mortar, sealants and coatings can cure. Surveys and planning can happen over the winter.
How Long Has Presto Restoration Been Doing This Work?
More than 25 years. We specialize in facade restoration, waterproofing, caulking and coatings on large commercial buildings, which means the crew on an Omaha tower has done that specific work rather than treating it as a sideline to general contracting.
