There are varying degrees of commercial building restoration services, building materials, and climates so the answer is usually, “it depends.” We recommend that you have a plan that includes regularly checking your building’s exterior top to bottom.
Commercial Building Restoration Services Explained
Most commercial building restoration services can be put into three categories.
- Surface Restoration
- Waterproofing
- Historic Preservation
A good restoration company will be able to provide all three. Waterproofing and surface restoration are the two most common categories, but we usually have at least one big historic preservation project a year as well. Historic preservation project usually includes services from all categories and are always a thrill to be a part of. We love breathing life back into old buildings.
When are Commercial Building Surface Restoration Services Needed
When your building still looks dirty right after a cleaning, then you know it’s time for a surface restoration. Surface restoration is primarily for removing stains and scratches from the exterior of your commercial building. That means special chemicals and techniques are needed to safely and effectively clean or polish away the stains or scratches. We highly recommend leaving this to a professional for best results and to keep from damaging your building. The final stage of surface restoration is applying a protective coating. This keeps the surface looking great for years and as a bonus it makes cleaning the surface easier which means property manager or owners save money on maintenance.
When are Commercial Building Waterproofing Services Needed
Waterproofing services should be preventative. Do not wait until you have leaks, signs of mold, or cracking walls to call a waterproofing company. Routinely inspecting the caulking, flashing, and other components of your waterproofing system will save you from having to make costly repairs down the road. We recommend monthly checks at the minimum and thorough inspections before seasons change. Large changes in temperature can cause movement and that can then cause your building’s exterior envelope to become compromised. It is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to keeping you building watertight.
When are Historic Preservation Services Needed
