This three-story commercial office structure, strategically situated just south of San Francisco and San Jose, CA, is characterized by its elegant combination of precast stone, anodized aluminum metal, and glass windows, establishing itself as an iconic city landmark. Our stone restoration & glass restoration project in San Francisco, San Jose, CA began when we encountered a significant challenge. The commercial office building’s exterior precast concrete facade had suffered from mineral deposit stains and neglect. A result of not being properly sealed during the construction of the building. Mineral deposits from the precast concrete facade had leached onto the glass windows, leaving them stained, looking aged and worn. The building needed glass restoration and precast stone restoration.
THE BUILDING FACADE SOLUTION: Glass Restoration & Precast Cleaning
Leveraging our expertise in glass and stone restoration services, particularly in precast and GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete), our team worked diligently to identify a cleaning solution that would effectively eliminate mineral-based stains without causing any harm to the building facade surfaces. We decided to use our Stone ReStore HD for this purpose. Additionally, we applied our premium precast concrete sealing treatment, Leach Stop, to the commercial office building. This sealant protects the newly restored precast concrete facade surfaces for years. This precast sealing treatment will shield the concrete from future mineral leaching, stain development, water penetration, and water erosion.
Moreover, we devised a cost-effective approach for cleaning and restoring the windows with the use of our Glass ReSurfacer System. This system was instrumental in restoring the mineral deposit stains on the architectural window glass. To restore the anodized aluminum window frames of the building, we used our Metal ReSurfacer product. This completely restored the metal of the anodized aluminum window frames to their natural sheen without removing or damaging the protective coating.
